Interactive Projection Wall
A large-scale interactive projection designed to spark conversations about climate change. The experience allowed users to walk in front of a projection wall displaying words, and by moving in front of those words, they could select them and place them into sentences, creating their own responses to a question displayed on the wall.
Built using Unity and OpenCV with a compact camera, the system tracked the user's movements to facilitate interaction with the projection. In addition to the interactive wall, a web app was created to allow users to submit their responses to the same question via their smartphones. Responses were reviewed by a moderator and, if approved, would appear on the projection wall, contributing new words for future users to interact with.
Developed using React, SASS, and GraphQL, the web app provided a seamless way to engage users beyond the physical installation. Key challenges included ensuring accurate tracking and translating that data into coherent interactions with the projection, as well as syncing the question on both the wall and the web app for a consistent user experience.
The result was a thought-provoking and enjoyable experience that captivated users and passersby, encouraging reflection on climate change while providing a platform for public interaction.
